Wanting to start labor!?
Im going to be 38 weeks on sunday.
(please do not say wait until its ready..thats not what im looking for)
I go to the doctor Monday. I was 2cm last monday. Im sure im finally 3cm, because i’ve had more pressure. Ive had contractions-NOT BH- but they didnt hurt. nd today my back is achy..and more pressure down below. Any more ideas that you did, foods you ate, I dont care how crazy it is. Name anything, any thing anyone you know used, or any old wives tales youve heard of….
I know walking, sex, (im doing that everyday)…
I planned on running today!
I bounce on a ball.
Any hot foods you suggest?
Any crazy things you/your friends/someone you know had done?
Thanks in advance!
definitely going to try the pineapple asap (i bought two cans yesterday! lol)

Go out for mexican or indian. My friend was told by her midwife to have something spicy to bring on labour. Also, you have a pressure point between you thumb and index finger (the skin joining it) press on the area were it is most sensitive and hold it down. This is called acupressure and it is supposed to break your waters! Good luck and congrats!
DO NOT run, its not good for the baby, the baby will come when it’s ready, don’t rush things, just make sure u have your bags packed and what your going to take for the baby
hot wings brought on contractions for my sister in law..so did pineapple (she had to eat a couple cans of it though lol) ive heard evening primrose oil can help. sex was what did it for me.
lol good luck! hope it works!
nothing works believe me i tried with my last baby and have tried with this one baby’s will not come until ready im 39 weeks pregnant and am having a big baby i been getting a lot of pressure and tightening but nothing seams to be budging her lol. i hope your baby comes soon
congratulations
Um, you either have Braxton Hicks contractions or active labor contractions.
Since you’re not in active labor, those contractions ARE BH contractions.
And nothing works unless your body is ready.
Honey, if you find out, let us know. Truth is, there really isn’t much you can do. Evening primrose oil will help with dilation, but that’s about it. I even went to the mall with my husband yesterday and rode the electronic horse thing they have there (I think it was called the iGallop…funny stuff) and used the leg massager that rubs the tendon that can send you into labor (the tendon that is the reason pregnant women should avoid pedicures). Good luck!
Eating hot chillies
Stretching
Drinking cod liver oil
allot of physical exercise
A warm/hot bath
All can bring on an early labor
Hope it helps
iv heard eating reli hot foods like lots of curry and chilli lol
all the best
xxxx
Chinese food. Your not supposed to eat it while 7, 8 months pregnant because it causes contractions. Worked for me! Had her 2 days later. (also had sex the day b4 that)
I would suggest the buffet so u can have a little of everything, who knows what it is that causes this.
i heard if u smear peanut butter all over your face and run around the house with underwear over your head with jelly all over your stomach it helps
Hi sounds like baby is going to be here real soon!!1 you can try thees though!
Before you proceed, i should warn you that there is very little hard scientific evidence relating to either the effectiveness, or the safety, of any of these methods. The studies that have been done tend to be small and evidence is difficult to verify: if labour is due anyway, how do you know whether it was the curry you ate last night that actually brought it on? On the safety side, talk to your doctor or midwife at your next check up before you try any of these methods. This is particularly important if there are any complications in your pregnancy.
Nipple stimulation
Nipple stimulation is the gentle rubbing or rolling of the nipple to encourage the start of contractions. The theory is that oxytocin, a hormone that causes contractions, is released in the body when the breasts are stimulated.
Is it safe?
Nipple stimulation has been reported to produce very strong contractions and for this reason you should use it with care. However, a study of 719 women found that there were no problems of this sort following nipple stimulation.
Does it work?
The study mentioned above was thought to be too small to draw concrete conclusions from, but did show a significant benefit from nipple stimulation: 37.3 per cent of women who had tried it went into labour within 72 hours as compared to just 6.4 per cent of those who had not.
How do I try it?
The idea is to simulate the suckling of a baby so you need to massage the whole areola (the dark area around the nipple), not just tweak the nipple. Place your palm over the areola and move in a circular motion, applying a firm but gentle pressure. This may need to be continued for some time. The usual recommendation is 15 minutes of continual stimulation on each nipple each hour for several hours.
Castor oil
There are reports of castor oil being used to bring on labour as far back as the Egyptians, though how it works is poorly understood. The most commonly given explanation is that it acts as a powerful laxative, and when it stimulates the gut it also stimulates the uterus and so "kick starts" labour.
Is it safe?
Nausea is likely to be the immediate effect, followed by a bad case of diarrhoea and there is a risk that you will become dehydrated. For this reason, we would NOT recommend taking castor oil.
Does it work?
A study of 100 overdue women found that 57.7% began active labour after a single dose of 60ml of castor oil, as opposed to 4.2% who received no treatment. Another small study found that taking castor oil had no adverse affects on mother or baby. Neither study was of a large enough scale to be conclusive.
How do I try it?
This is one we would NOT recommend but, according to a survey of midwives, 4 fl oz of castor oil mixed with orange juice is the usual dose. It is revolting (very oily) to drink though some suggest that making it fizzy by adding ½ teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda helps. A second dose can be given 12 hours later.
Sex
Sex as means of getting labour started is thought to work in three ways: firstly the movement may help to stimulate the uterus into action; secondly, sex can trigger the release of oxytocin, the ‘contraction’ hormone; thirdly, semen contains a high concentration of prostaglandins which help to ripen, or soften, the neck of the womb (cervix) ready for it to dilate when labour starts.
Is it safe?
Sex is safe as long as your waters have not broken. Once this has happened, making love may increase the risk of infection. You should also avoid sex if you have a low-lying placenta or have had vaginal bleeding. Men often feel uncomfortable making love to their partners with a baby so obviously in the way but the baby will not know what is happening and will not be harmed.
Does it work?
Not enough studies have been done but, if nothing else, it will
well i just had mine. and at 38 weeks i was begging to be induced.
i tried sex,.. which thins the cervix, but doesn’t actually cause labor to start unless you are already ready. I tried walking, which was just uncomfortable after a short distance. DO NOT try running. the bouncing can cause the placenta to detach and rupture. I even tried eating fresh pineapple, (wives tail)
truth is, there isn’t much you can do. the best thing is to keep going into the hospital and complaining on the pain and discomfort. you can also tell your DR that you want to be induced. i finally convinced my DR at 39 weeks to do it. i was in so much discomfort. but the DR isn’t going to do it unless it is safe for baby.
If you are at 3,.. then the hospital should keep you. but trust me being induced isn’t all it is cracked up to be.
I totaly understand, anything you hear you’ll try, lol. I did that too! Believe me, the sooner you relax, the sooner you’ll go into labor. I know how can you relax when you feel the babys head wanting to pop out already. Well, it worked for me and my friends. Also if you walk alot that will help. You have to understand that the baby is not ready to come out and needs more time to finish developing. There is a reason for everything and you have to be patient. Good luck and God Bless you and your baby.
i had the dr strip my membranes, i went in the next morning
U should try 2 enjoy pregnancy more.
I mean its somthing that later on, when that baby is born, your gonna wish that u had more time being pregnant.be more natural and wait when its ready!
They say Indian Curry and spicy foods like it bring contractions, so does taking a warm (not hot) bath (not shower), walking like crazy and massaging your calves and your little toes, there are some pressure points in there that release oxytocin.
You may also want to try adding a few drops of clary sage to your shower.
